Odell Beckham was in the news this offseason for pulling his hamstring, an injury that has plagued many NFL wide receivers before. Now it seems as if Beckham has opened up about his hamstring issues. In a statement during his interview with the New York Post Beckham stated "I obviously would not want to play hurt all my career".
The Giant's wide receiver is beginning to become annoyed with the patience needed to deal with such an injury. Beckham does not want to leave the Giants again for any amount of time due to injury. But looking past this hamstring injury a pattern seems to be emerging and it might be for the best. If Odell Beckham cannot stay healthy then it is important that the Giants know this now and not when he needs a new contract or has already signed a new one. Much like Victor Cruz if he can prove he is an elite durable wide receiver then he will get the money and attention that goes alone with it.
A similar comparison is that of another NFC East counterpart Miles Austin. Austin was coming off a hot start to his career when his hamstring problems began to act up; soon the Cowboys got tired of these issues and sent him packing. Now he looks to settle in with an unproven Philadelphia receiving core. One thing about the NFL that is certain is that the league is fluid in its opinion of players.
One day a player can be on top of the world and the next suspended with no chance of a return or even worse injured beyond repair. NFL lives are dictated by the amount of productivity they bring to the table, if Beckham misses a substantial amount of games this season look for the Giants to start running out of patience.
