The San Francisco Giants came back tied the NLDS 2-2 with a big win over the Cincinnati Reds. Their bats woke up and they pounded the home team 8-3.
But before getting into the offense, the Giants bullpen stepped up big as Bruce Bochy removed starter, Barry Zito from the game in the third inning.
Tim Lincecum stole the show pitching like the former starter that he was and bringing snap shots of the guy who won back-to-back Cy Young Awards before having a disastrous 2012 campaign.
He went four innings, allowed one run on two hits and struck out five.
Backing him up while he was on the mound were the bats of the Giants lineup.
Setting the tone of the game was Angel Pagan who hit a leadoff home run off of Mike Leake. He finished the game with two hits and Pablo Sandoval finished the game with three. Both hitta double and a homer apiece. Sandoval was a triple shy of the cycle.
Also a surprise on offense was Joaquin Arias who finished with two doubles and two runs as he came in to pinch hit and remained at short stop replacing Brandon Crawford.
The Giants put crooked numbers on the second, fifth and seventh innings, with Sandoval hitting a mammoth shot in the seventh to give the Giants an 8-3 lead.
Starting in Game 5 for the Reds will be Game 1 hero Mat Latos. Meanwhile the Giants will have Matt Cain on the mound.
With the win tonight, it is the first time a National League team has come from 0-2 down to push for a Game 5.
