Jadeveon Clowney was placed on the active/PUP list on Monday so the Texans can recall him as soon as he is healed. The sophomore pass rusher will not be ready to go by training camp but there are reports stating that he will make it there sometime soon. If Clowney does not have any setbacks with his rehab he may just end up starting the season.
After Clowney on the depth chart is Jason Ankrah and rookie Tony Washington. It is not impossible to imagine the Texans moving some of their key pieces around if Clowney cannot play such as inside linebackers Brian Cushing and Benardrick McKinney.
Not having Clowney for a part of the season would really set back the Texan's defense as they have expected Clowney to contribute solidly for two seasons now and he has not been able to stay healthy. This training camp is particularly important because of Clowney's switch from a defensive lineman to a linebacker; let us not forget he has not been on the field all that long.
The Texans will be solidly focused on developing their other draft picks, Benardrick McKinney, Jaelen Strong, and Kevin Johnson as well.
