The NBA free agent market has some notable names left with Kevin Seraphin, Carlos Boozer, Glen Davis, Norris Cole, Andre Miller, Darrell Arthur and Dorell Wright available and teams like the NY Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards and Cleveland Cavaliers could be interested in making roster additions.
The Knicks are still in the market for a big man and the Lakers have a roster spot to fill heading into training camp. Both teams are reportedly interested in Seraphin, while the Wizards are interested in bringing back the free agent center. Carlos Boozer remains on the market and according to Pro Basketball Talk, he is a target for the Wizards, Houston Rockets and the Knicks. The Knicks and Lakers each have an exception to use and that could come on one of the veterans.
JaVale McGee is available on the free agent market and he has had interest this offseason from the Knicks, Dallas Mavericks and the Lakers. Marc Stein at ESPN first reported on the Mavs interest in McGee and described it as "exploratory" at the time. The Mavs signed Samuel Dalembert to a deal and Stein reported after that the move did not end the interest in adding McGee. The Mavs were reeling after losing DeAndre Jordan in free agency, but they have recovered with a trade for Zaza Pachulia and adding Dalembert.
According to Michael Scotto at Sheridan Hoops, the Lakers, Knicks and Wizards have "continued to show interest" in Seraphin and he could be signed soon. The list of free agents is dwindling and Seraphin fits a need for all of those teams, as they all need a backup forward/center on the roster. Glen Davis could be a backup option for those teams if Seraphin signs elsewhere, as he is getting interest from the Knicks and the Clippers on the free agent market.
Seraphin reportedly was looking for a bigger role this offseason, but this late in the summer it's likely not happening. According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Wizards could bring back Seraphin to be the backup for Marcin Gortat again, while the Knicks and Lakers each are looking for some front court depth. Seraphin has been productive in limited playing time, going for 6.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 79 games played last season.
Seraphin can be an end of the bench option for teams and apart from the Lakers, Knicks and Wizards, PBT reports that the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns have also showed interest. The Lakers may not bring Robert Upshaw into the season and that could open things up, as the team may want someone behind Roy Hibbert and Robert Sacre on the roster.
Jason Terry and Andre Miller remain on the free agent market and those guards are options for the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks. The Rockets just got Ty Lawson in a trade, but they reportedly are still interested in signing Terry. Marc Stein reports that the team gave up guard depth in the deal for Lawson and they could add Terry to help with that on the roster. Miller remains on the market and he had some interest from the Kings, but the team is unlikely making a move after signing Seth Curry.
