EPL Transfer News: Jack Rodwell Happy with Manchester City Switch; Barry Not Concerned with Getting Recognition

Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell said he has absolutely no regrets about signing for the English Premier League champions, while Gareth Barry said he is perfectly okay to be the unsung hero at the Etihad.

Rodwell's move to City was met with much cynicism, with plenty questioning whether the England youngsters will ever get a game for the side with a bulging squad. However, Rodwell has got plenty of opportunities in the early part of the season so far, even if he might not have made most of the minutes, and the former Everton man insisted it was the right career move.

"I'm young and English. I've not got a bad word to say about City," Rodwell said. "If they want you and sign you, then they have got intent for you.

"I was not guaranteed a starting place at Everton. I had a lot of injuries, Darron Gibson and Marouane Fellaini were in form, so it was a push for me to get in that side.

"But when the champions come knocking, it's hard to refuse."

Rodwell admitted he had found it difficult to adjust to his new surroundings, having been with Everton since the age of seven. "It has been hard to adjust," Rodwell said. "I was at Everton from the age seven.

"Being there 14 years meant any move was going to be big. The methods and styles are very different. The respective managers are very different. The standard of training is amazing."

Meanwhile, Barry said he is happy to remain in the shadows of his more illustrious teammates. "I am that sort of player," the midfielder said. "I don't go on to the pitch thinking about walking back into the media area and looking for headlines.

"That's not my role and I have been lucky enough over the years to work for managers who have been able to see that.

"That's all I care about, playing my game, and as long as I'm playing and the team is winning, it's perfect."

"Since I came to City, you see the players the club have signed, and that is the reason I came here.

"They can make your job so much easier -- it's fantastic to receive the ball and see the attacking options we have, the options to give the ball into feet, or put it in behind, and know they will create chances.

"That's what we did against Sunderland last Saturday."
