Seattle Seahawks Rumors and News: Kam Chancellor Holds Out From Camp, Bobby Wagner Contract Extension Next After Russell Wilson Signs?

The Seattle Seahawks have taken care of Russell Wilson with a rich new contract extension and now Bobby Wagner could be next in line to get extended and this comes as safety Kam Chancellor is also looking to get a new deal and he has started a holdout from training camp to get things moving in the direction he wants.

The Wilson contract came ahead of the start of training camp and now the quarterback is the second highest paid player in the NFL. Wilson will make just under what Aaron Rodgers is paid per year after inking a four year extension worth nearly $90 million with the Seahawks. The team has some other concerns with contracts to deal with, as NFL.com reports that Kam Chancellor is holding out for a new deal, while linebacker Bobby Wagner could be the next to sign an extension.

The Seahawks have had a number of players talk in public about new deals this offseason, including Wagner and defensive end Michael Bennett. Chancellor is currently on a $28 million extension that has him signed for a couple more years, while Wagner is heading towards free agency. According to NFL.com, head coach Pete Carroll said the team is "working" on things with Wagner and that the hope is to get a contract done before the start of the season. Bennett is also reportedly looking for a new deal, as he is on a $28.5 million extension that lasts for the next three years.

Wilson and the Seahawks had been talking all offseason about a new contract and now the quarterback is in on a four-year, $87.6 million extension. If Wilson had waited and hit free agency without signing an extension, there is a chance he could have signed a $100 million deal, but this gives him security and a lot of guaranteed money. According to Pro Football Talk, the deal has a $31 million signing bonus and another chunk of the contract is also guaranteed.

According to Rand Getlin at NFL Network, Seattle has been "working to extend" Wagner for a few weeks and he could be looking for a deal around $10 million per season. Wagner has been a key part of the Seahawks defense and if the team doesn't sign Bruce Irvin after not picking up his fifth year, Wagner will be even more integral. Wagner had 104 tackles last season and he had 120 and 141 in his first two years in the league. Chancellor has been consistent for the Seahawks and he has only missed two games in the last three seasons.
