Tigers vs. Yankee ALCS Game 1: Watch Free Online at 8 p.m. ET. Pettitte Faces Fister

Oct 13, 2012 07:36 PM EDT

The Detroit Tigers will face the New York Yankees Saturday night for Game 1 of the ALCS.

The Yankees advanced to the championship series after defeating the Baltimore Orioles 3-1 on Friday night. They will be able to carry some momentum in the series as they will not take any breaks in between.

The Yankees have had a very dramatic postseason up to date. Joe Girardi lost his father last weekend and has dealt with a struggling batting lineup, more specifically Alex Rodriguez's struggles, benching to best paid athlete in sports history.

For the Tigers, they have done some traveling in the last 48 hours having to travel from the west coast as they defeated the Oakland Athletics in five games after Justin Verlander shutout the A's to wrap up the series.

Taking the mound for the Tigers will be Doug Fister. He went seven innings allowing six hits, two earned runs, two walks and finished with eight strikeouts. He started Game 2 against the A's.

The Yankees will have the pitcher with the most wins in postseason history, Andy Pettitte, on the mound. He pitched decently in a loss to the Orioles in the division series going seven innings allowing seven hits, three earned run, a walk and had five strikeouts.

The Tigers and the Yankees have had history in the playoffs as of late. The Tigers came out on top in 2006 in the ALDS against the Yankees and last year they eliminated the Yanks in five games in an exciting ALDS.

It will be exciting to see two of baseball's dynamic sluggers hitting in Yankee Stadium. Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder will definitely aim for the short porch out in right field. Cabrera can hit it out anywhere in the park and Fielder is just a beast.

First pitch is a little after 8 p.m. ET. 7 p.m. CT.
