DeSean Jackson is confident. The Washington Redskins are in need of a bounce back year and Jackson is very confident he will be critical to the effort as he and Robert Griffin III look to improve from an inconsistent season in 2014. Jackson came to the Redskins after getting released from the Philadelphia Eagles and had a quiet year. However, he is not predicting the same thing in 2015 as he made it clear during training camp that even the top cornerbacks in the league cannot stop him.
"I don't think no one can guard me," Jackson said, via ESPN.com. "It's how I feel about myself. I don't feel no one can stop me. You can get Darrelle Revis, Richard Sherman -- whoever you want to get. I always love to do more. Whatever opportunity I get to make a play, I'll make the most of my skills. To score touchdowns, to have energy, to light my team up, to get everyone riled up, to continue to go on the field and play at a high level."
The Redskins need that high level of play in 2015. Griffin is entering the year as the undisputed starter while Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy back him up. Griffin will rely heavily on Jackson as the two worked to improve their chemistry for the upcoming year. Jackson says that they have a much better relationship on the field and he is confident in the quarterback's improvement.
"We have that relationship if I feel I can get past a defender and tell him just out-throw the defender, I'll run to get it," Jackson said. "But you don't want it to be forced. You want it to be the right time because if you're just forcing things, they might come up with an interception."
Along with Jackson, the ground game will play a big role for the Redskins this season. Alfred Morris is back as he prepares to play out the final year of his contract alongside rookie Matt Jones who is looking to upset the running back for the top spot on the depth chart. That position battle should benefit the Redskins' offense. According to Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan, the team is hopeful to keep Morris in the upcoming season as the two sides have been discussing a potential extension, although one is not expected this season.
"I've got a job to do," Morris said, via Redskins.com. "I'm a running back. So I come, run the ball, catch the ball, block, and whatever they ask me to do without even thinking about next year. It is what it is, and I'm going to keep doing what I did every year. My first, second, and third year is the same way I'm going to approach this fourth year."
