Cleveland Browns Rumors and News: Running Backs Deal With Injuries In Training Camp

Aug 04, 2015 02:49 PM EDT

The Cleveland Browns are really working their running backs this offseason. Their promising rookie Duke Johnson suffered a pulled hamstring. Johnson is familiar with this injury because he had the same one during the NFL combine.

This is bad news for a team that spent their 3rd round pick on Johnson who is expected to be the lead back for the Browns. Terrance West suffered not only some barbs from the coaching staff for his lack of maturity during practice but also strained his calf muscle.

This injury leaves him day to day however coaches have questioned how seriously he takes the starting job. West has also gained some weight which may be throwing his speed a little bit off. Potential practice squad players Glenn Winston and Luke Lundy got injured as well. Lundy suffered a concussion and Winston arrived at camp already injured.

The main running backs getting snaps for now are Isaiah Crowell and Shaun Draughn, Crowell saw a lot of first team work last season and could be the answer if he stays healthy. The Browns are very enamored with Duke Johnson but he needs to stay healthy in order for him to reach his true potential.
