Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour believes Olivier Giroud will turn out to be a great signing for the Gunners, while reported target Abel Hernandez is keeping his feet on the ground after being linked with a move to the Emirates.
Giroud, the man brought in to replace Robin Van Persie, has had a sedate start to his Arsenal career so far, but there have been signs that the French international will start to fire in the goals soon. Arsenal's last English Premier League game against West Ham saw Giroud net his first league goal, off a nice finish, and Parlour believes the best is yet to come.
"He had a brilliant game against West Ham," Parlour told talkSPORT. "I think Giroud is the main man. The goal against West Ham will help him to push on now.
"It does take time to settle at a new club and maybe into a new way of life for his family. Some players settle straight away and others take a little bit more time but I think he has done okay.
"I think he will be a really good signing."
Despite the former player's confidence in the striker, Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking to bring in another central forward in the January transfer window, to decrease the burden on Giroud, and one of the players heavily linked with a move - Hernandez - insisted he is perfectly happy at his current club Palermo.
"Palermo is a club and a city that I am very fond of and I don't think that I let an opportunity of a lifetime go," said the 22-year-old Uruguayan international, who was recently ruled pout for at least four months through injury.
"Every year many transfer rumors go round, but the Rosanero are my present and I have nothing else in my mind. I'm very happy in Italy and would like to stay here for many years to come.
"I am sure that my teammates will do very well in my absence. This squad has quality and everything needed to go far."
Meanwhile, Arsenal youngster Carl Jenkinson has been rewarded for his brilliant start to the season, with Roy Hodgson giving the 20-year-old right-back the opportunity to train with the England squad, although he will not travel to Poland for their World Cup Qualifier Tuesday.
"After speaking to Arsene I am also conscious that his rise has been meteoric," Hodgson said.
"He's only 20 and it's nice to temper things a little bit, but he wouldn't be out of place in the squad. Kieran Gibbs, like Jenkinson, has started very well for Arsenal.
"On this occasion, we decided to go with (Gibbs) and keep Jenkinson up our sleeves but he'll be very much in our thoughts when it comes to the next friendly match."
