The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are playing live on the MLB schedule on Thursday night for Game 3 of their series at Yankee Stadium and the matchup has CC Sabathia on the mound against Eduardo Rodriguez and this game starts up past 7:05 for first place NY as they try and push the lead in the AL East division.
The Yankees have been playing very well and while they come in after a loss the team saw the debut of a young pitcher in Luis Severino. Severino is coming in with Michael Pineda on the mend and he had a very solid start despite getting the loss. Sabathia now will try and get things going against Boston and it comes as he has had struggles all season. Sabathia was on fire against the Mariners a couple starts ago and now he gets the chance to get it done again.
The Red Sox season has basically fallen apart after coming in with high expectations and now they will have a rookie on the mound for the third straight game. The Yankees come in after another high scoring win on Tueasday and a low scoring loss on Wednesday, scoring 13 runs in the victory and just one in the loss. The teams will play again at the end of the month and into September in Boston. Masahiro Tanaka took the win on Tuesday, while Severino was handed his first loss in his major league debut.
Steven Wright got things done for the Sox and now the team will try and salvage the series. The Yankees have been scoring a ton of runs, including 90 over the last 10 games and now the team has the chance to win the series against the Red Sox. Brian McCann has had a bounce back season, but he is dealing with a knee issue and is on a day to day basis. The Yankees come in at 4.5 games ahead of the Buoe Jays in the division and the teams will play soon.
The Jays made major moves at the deadline, acquiring Troy Tulowitzki and David Price and now they could be favorites if they make the playoffs. The Yankees have 60 wins already and they added Dustin Ackley at the trade deadline, but he has been placed on the DL with a back issue.
