After being handed a 32-point defeat by the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers, the Boston Celtics will look to bounce back in their first preseason home game at the TD Garden arena against the Brooklyn Nets at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Despite this being a preseason game, this is still a division rivalry game that can potentially give fans a glimpse of what they might expect should these two teams meet in the playoffs.
In their loss against the 76ers, the Celtics were without veteran power forward Kevin Garnett, and will probably expect his absence once again in today's game.
With Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo expected to see limited minutes once again, Celtics rookie Jared Sullinger, who has looked like an excellent pick thus far after being drafted 21st overall in last year's draft.
The Nets, on the other hand, are 2-0 after opening up Barclays Center with a victory over Washington last night.
With All-Star shooting guard Joe Johnson joining the likes of Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, and Gerald Wallace, the Nets should emerge as a viable threat to Boston's Atlantic Division dominance.
Coach Avery Johnson said in an interview that winning last night's opening game in Brooklyn mattered to him, but this game probably will not.
