The Pittsburgh Steelers unfortunately could not stay out of harm's way during the Hall of Fame game. Steelers clutch kicker Shaun Suisham suffered a torn ACL after he attempted to make a tackle during the game.
The kicker's leg appeared to move backwards after getting caught in a pile of players. The skills that Suisham possess makes him one of the best fantasy football kickers as well as one of the best kickers in the league. The Steelers hoped that Suisham would be able to at least return at some point in the season.
Unfortunately they have received word that Suisham will need season ending surgery. The Steelers are currently holding tryouts for a new kicker for the 2015 season. Finding a replacement for Suisham will be difficult as Heinz Field is a notoriously tough place to be a kicker. This also resets the Steeler's special teams operations as a new kicker will have to come in and prove he is consistent enough to last the whole season.
This is all made especially difficult as the NFL has made the 2015 season the first season in which extended extra points will be carried out. In all 3 of his seasons with the Steelers he recorded field goal percentages between 90 and 93.8.
