The St. Louis Cardinals host the San Francisco Giants in Game 3 of the NLCS with Kyle Lohse and the Matt Cain taking the hill for their respective squads. With the series tied 1-1, Lohse has the advantage in the pitching matchup and will give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead when it's all said and done.
Lohse was the pitching staff's ace during the regular season and has pitched big games this postseason. In his last start in Game 4 of the NLDS against the Nationals, Lohse gave his team a chance to win as he held Washington to a run over seven innings pitched.
In his prior start, he pitched the Wild Card Game against the Braves, in Atlanta, and won that game too.
Lohse has done all of this on the road. He will pitch at home for the first time in the playoffs. Lohse only lost one game in St. Louis posting an 8-1 record with a 2.33 ERA in 16 starts.
Cain is the Giants' ace, but he has struggled in the playoffs. He is 1-1 in two starts with a 5.06 ERA. Cain has never pitched past the sixth inning and given up three runs in each of his starts.
He won the final game of their division series against the Reds, but in reality, not taking anything away from Cain's performance, but Buster Posey's grand slam won the game for the Giants that day.
Lohse has the home field advantage and has been the better pitcher in Game 3.
Score Prediction: Giants will lose 6-2.
