NFL Preseason Storylines Packers and Patriots: How Will Jimmy Garoppolo Play? Defenses Tested After Changes, Can Malcolm Brown Make Impact?

1. How will Jimmy Garoppolo play?

Garoppolo has looked lost during Patriot's training camp so it is hard to say whether or not he is ready to lead this offense. The Patriots are going to give Garoppolo all the reps he wants over the next few weeks so the sophomore has enough time to get some decent practice in.

2. How will the revamped Packers secondary look?

The Packers lost Tramon Williams in free agency however they drafted young, 2nd round cornerback Quinten Rollins and free safety Damarious Randall. These two young players will need to be great early on for the Packers to compete with the NFC's toughest wide receivers. The Packers still have Sam Shields and Casey Hayward but William's production is something that the rookies are going to have a hard time replicating.

3. Will Malcolm Brown make an impact early?

Brown has been impressive all offseason and was a solid pick for the Patriots. This gives them an immediate replacement for Vince Wilfork. Chandler Jones is 100% healthy and Jamie Collins is ready to break out so offenses could be getting an unexpected surprise when they face off with Brown.

4. Will the Patriots secondary crumble?

After Darrelle Revis left the Patriots for the Jets and Brandon Browner left for the Saints it was assumed that the Patriots would select a cornerback with their first round pick in the 2015 NFL draft. Instead they decided to hand over the secondary to Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan.  Butler is the Super Bowl hero who intercepted Russell Wilson on the 1 yard line. Butler's promotion was certainly earned but now he needs to prove that he can stay the starting quarterback. The Patriots safeties are some of the best in the league so there should not be issues there.

5. How will the Packers young WRs play?

Ty Montgomery has been an absolute monster in Packers camp and will likely get kick return duties this season. But if the third round pick can separate himself even further he might be able to play his way into the starting slot receiver position. The man currently holding that position is Davante Adams, an explosive wide receiver who began to break out last year. This is an encouraging sign for the Packers who can always use more talented wide receivers. Jordy Nelson also turned 30 and will eventually need a replacement, I am pretty certain one of these guys will be looking to take his spot when he declines.
