After welcoming fans to the new Barclays Center with eight sold out concerts, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z will now celebrate his Brooklyn Nets' arrival to the league and the fans by auctioning off a signed, limited-edition Nets jersey.
Jay-Z debuted the new Nets jersey late in September, during his first concert.
Along with the jersey he wore during his first concert, Jay-Z will also be auctioning ten limited-edition autographed "Carter 4" Nets jersesy, to celebrate the team's new identity and the opening of their new home in Brooklyn. All proceeds of the auction will benefit his Shawn Carter Foundation.
"I believe everybody in the world is born with genius level talent. Apply yourself to whatever you're genius at and you can do anything in the world," Jay told the audience at his sold-out show.
His Shawn Carter Foundation was founded in 2003 to help individuals facing socio-economic hardships further their education at institutions of higher learning. Since its establishment the Foundation has distributed more than $1.4 million in scholarship awards to help needy students across the country.
The auction will go live at Auctions.NBA.com beginning Wednesday (October 17) for a period of two weeks, ending October 31. All of the jerseys have been authenticated by MeiGray Group, the NBA's official authentication partner, and will be registered into the NBA and MeiGray Group Authentication Program.
