Bruce Arians wanted it to be known that the Cardinals want to run the ball, A LOT. When the Cardinals top two running backs went down with an injury in practice Arians went on to say
"I am not pleased we are missing so much time with the top two guys and we may be looking to bring somebody in. We will search and see what is available; I am just not pleased at where we are at right now at that position."
Signing Chris Johnson adds some depth to a very injury prone running back unit. Arians said to Johnson "You're not promised anything, including a roster spot.
And when asked about if any red flags came up in Johnsons past or present, Arians responded with
"There was nothing. Except for a bullet in his trap."
Signing CJ2K cost the Cardinals very little, as the embattled running back signed for the veteran's minimum of $870,000. Johnson has no signing bonus but can make up to $2 million dollars in incentives.
Johnson responded with
"I'm just happy to be playing football, losing a step, I don't see it. I felt like I was more explosive last year."
Before the Cardinals Johnson was rumored to be headed to Dallas however it is clear the Cardinals believed they needed him more.
