The NBA free agent class has some notable names left with Carlos Boozer, Glen Davis, Mike Miller, Brendan Haywood, Larry Sanders, Cory Jefferson, Henry Sims, Jason Maxiell, Elton Brand and Norris Cole available and teams like the Miami Heat, LA Clippers, NY Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls could be landing spots for some of those players.
The Knicks, Lakers and Miami Heat all could be looking for some front court depth heading into training camp, while the Mavericks reportedly are interested in Mike Miller. Miller and Haywood remain on the market after being traded from the Cavaliers to the Blazers, where they were waived. The Chicago Bulls are reportedly looking to add another center and Haywood could be an option after JaVale McGee and Kevin Seraphin signed deals with the Mavericks and the Knicks.
The Mavericks reportedly are looking at Miller, while Marc Stein at ESPN reports that the Grizzlies, Warriors and Thunder also could be options for Miller. Some of these players may have to wait until closer to the start of the season, as many teams have already set their roster for camp. Miller could be a nice option to return to the Grizzlies, as they need some outside shooting, while the Mavs are concentrating on more bench scoring after adding McGee and Samuel Dalembert on deals.
Boozer is a name to keep an eye on, as the vet was fairly productive with the Lakers last season. Boozer was amnestied by the Bulls and signed with the Lakers and ended up averaging 12 points and seven rebounds per game in 71 contests. Boozer is a liability on defense, but he is a solid offensive option and can provide bench depth and rebounding. The Miami Heat reportedly are considering Boozer, but the team likely would have to make a trade first before signing him.
Miami has been shopping Mario Chalmers and Chris Andersen this offseason and the Sun Sentinel reports that the team is also considering deals with Josh McRoberts. Jamal Crawford has come up as a main trade target and teams like the Cavaliers, Knicks and Heat could be landing spots. The New York Post reported at the end of July that the Knicks had some interest in Boozer, but after signing Seraphin the interest is likely not there anymore. The Pelicans and Mavericks also showed interest in Boozer, but no deals came close to happening.
Glen Davis is reportedly considering deals overseas and could be an option to return for the Clippers. Right now a deal is looking unlikely but he could be a late summer addition. Norris Cole remains on the market and he likely will return to the Pelicans after some interest from the Knicks and Sixers. Haywood comes in after playing sparingly for the Cavs last season, but he is a solid rebounder and could prove depth for teams. Haywood could be a fit with the Bulls, while the Lakers and Wizards are also options after they had interest in Seraphin.
