The match between Manchester City and West Bromwich pits two teams against each other that are extremely close in the standings. Man City has five wins and 15 points, one more than West Brom, who has four wins on the year.
West Brom has won its first four home league games, which is the best record to open a season for the club since 1919. The team has had trouble on the road this year, earning two draws and a loss.
"At this moment in time I'd say Manchester City are still the favourites to win the league. They haven't shown that they've gone backwards from last year," said West Brom boss Steve Clarke to ESPNFC.com. "They've shown that they're at the same level and it's up to everyone else to catch up with them."
Manchester City has yet to suffer a loss this season and have had three draws. The team has struggled in some matches, but has scored 15 goals while allowing only eight.
David Silva will miss the game due to an injury. Silva hurt himself in an international match for Spain while taking on France in a 1-1 draw. He hurt his hamstring and will miss the match against West Brom as well as next weeks Champions League match
''You know their squad is really strong and they have a number of options, said Clarke. "I read in the week that David Silva is injured but they've got Samir Nasri to come in. They've got like-for-like replacements all over the pitch."
The club is dealing with a few different injuries, including to Javi Garcia and Jack Rodwell also missing the game.
"Javi, David and Jack [are out] at this moment," said Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini. "Javi is not ready, I think he needs another week. We hope that David can play in the next game - not in the Champions League, but the next [Premier League] game against Swansea."
The two teams are separated by only a point and chance to move up in the standings will be on the line on Saturday.
''I should say many compliments to him (Clarke) because he has done a very good job until now," said Mancini. "In this moment, I think West Bromwich is the team that has played the best football, so for us it will be a tough game."
Man City has been reliant on Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez, who each have three goals on the season. The team has held opponents to less than a goal in the last five games and has yet to drop a match this season.
West Brom has struggled at times this year, but had an impressive 3-0 victory against Liverpool at home.
