Pittsburgh Steelers News and Rumors: Team Signs Doug Legursky After Maurkice Pouncey Injury

Aug 25, 2015 02:04 PM EDT

The Steelers have been awfully busy these past few days in the wake of Maurkice Pouncey's potentially season ending ankle injury.

Pouncey's hole along the offensive line will be a big one to fill however the Steelers seemingly have a plan on how to go about replacing some of his production. The Steelers signed one of their former players, guard Doug Legursky. To make this move the Steelers had to release injured wide receiver David Nelson.

Legursky was with the Steelers in the Super Bowl XLV loss to the Green Bay Packers so maybe he sees this as a chance to head to the Super Bowl one last time.

He only played two games in 2014, both of which were for the Chargers. Legursky is still young so it is doubtful that there is a lot of tread on his tires just yet. Most likely the team of Legursky and Cody Wallace will split the reps at the starting guard position; Wallace has experience being a starter in 2013 so adding Legursky brings a lot of veteran talent to the forefront.

The Steelers have also brought in veteran quarterback Michael Vick. Vick was brought in because Ben Roethlisberger's backup Bruce Gradkowski suffered a dislocated finger and needs surgery. The surgery should put Gradkowski out for three to four weeks giving Vick ample time to show the Steelers what he can do.
