The Tennessee Titans have announced that star Tennessee Titans cornerback Jason McCourty will have groin surgery on Monday. Ken Whisenhunt stated:
"It was something we thought was going to be able to be fixed through the rehab process, and it just wasn't responding as quickly as we would have liked, it went very well, and now it's just the process of rehab. I don't know the exact time of the rehab, but I'm not ruling him out for the first game. He's been rehabbing and working so he's in pretty good shape. So I think that will aid in his rehab, and we'll just see how it progresses."
The Titans will likely need their best cornerback when they go up against Mike Evans, Jameis Winston, and Doug Martin on week 1 of the regular season.
The Titans have been practicing without McCourty since August 6th and also another top cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson who suffered a high ankle sprain on August 8th.
Mostly free agents and standard depth players make up the Titan's starting secondary so when both of their best corners can play is a concern that they would want to see solved soon. It is likely that Wilson will play before McCourty, and whether or not they will see any preseason snaps is unknown at this time.
