During practice on Tuesday the Dallas Cowboys suffered a serious blow to their defense when starting cornerback Orlando Scandrick went down with an injury after attempting to tackle wide receiver Lucky Whitehead.

Scandrick's knee gave out as he was going to make contact. He immediately grabbed his knee and knew the injury was a torn ACL. After an MRI scans have shown that Scandrick tore both his MCL and ACL requiring season ending surgery to repair. Scandrick will have to go through a lengthy rehabilitation period to get his knee back into football shape.

The Cowboy's defensive backs knelt in prayer for Scandrick after practice. Secondary coach Jerome Henderson saw Scandrick immediately after the play and said,

"He said immediately, 'it's my ACL. I know it. It's gone,'''

Henderson continued...

"I said O is hurting right now, everybody keep him in your prayers and it's next man up. In this league, it happens to every team. You hate it happens to such a great player if he is hurt, but it's next man up and we've got to keep moving.''

Morris Claiborne stated,

"You can feel when your knee is not functioning right, I heard it in his voice because I've been there. I know that feeling. I actually felt myself go back to then after just sitting there looking at him, holding his hand. He's squeezing; I know that feeling."

JJ Wilcox and Barry Church were too distraught to speak to reporters about the incident. The Cowboys will now have to learn how to play without one of the best slot corner's in the league. Scandrick sent a text to ESPN saying,

"I'll be back, and I'll be better than ever."
