Brandon Weeden suffered a concussion while playing against the San Francisco 49ers in a preseason game for the Dallas Cowboys and has been out of action ever since. After much speculation about his injury Weeden stated,
"I'm definitely making progress. It's gotten better the last couple of days, so that's the encouraging part. Now it's just the boring part of waiting it out. You got to go through the whole process and by symptom-free. I've had times where I've been hit in the game, my head hits the turf, my ear pads pop out and my helmet should've shattered and I've had nothing, not even a headache or anything. I remember everything. Then I would get dinged barely and have those symptoms. It's a weird deal. You want to be smart about it. I'm 31 years old and I don't want to be 50 and not be able to know my kids' names. To me, that's a lot more important than try to play it out one more series in a preseason game. It's not worth it. Super Bowl? That would be a little different deal."
Weeden has had 3 concussions in his life which is a little more than the typical NFL quarterback. This is his first concussion since 2013 so you can tell that this has rattled him a bit.
Getting a concussion or any type of injury in a preseason game is always frustrating but when you are at the tail end of your career it effects everything including your mindset.
