NFL News and Rumors: Ndamukong Suh Speaks About Old Defense With Detroit Lions, Thinks Dolphins Are Better This Season?

Aug 27, 2015 01:26 PM EDT

Ndamukong Suh has made the Miami Dolphin's defense a lot better than what is was in 2014 but he seems to think that this defense can be better than last year's Detroit Lions defense. Suh stated

"I don't have a problem saying this, but I think personally we have more talent than we had in the No. 1 defense last year in Detroit.... It's a matter of us putting it together. We don't play on paper. We don't get to go against Atlanta or Washington Redskins that first game and say, 'Hey, this is our paper, this is our talent, here's your talent. We win because on paper we look a little bit better than you."

Now Suh is not directly challenging the Lions by any means merely stating that they might be better than the Lions "on paper". The Lions defensive front now consists of defensive end Darryl Tapp, defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, defensive end Ziggy Ansah, middle linebacker Stephen Tulloch, and outside linebacker DeAndre Levy. That is a pretty solid defense with a lot of key contributors up front. The Dolphins however may have the Lions beat when it comes to their secondary and that could make all the difference. The Dolphin's secondary consists of cornerback Brent Grimes, strong safety Reshad Jones two guys who will make a world of difference when it comes to forcing a quarterback to hold onto the ball a little longer, which should pay dividends for the defense front. Considering that the two teams do not play this season we are just going to have to wait and see.
