NFL Preseason Week 3 Preview: Washington Redskins Play Baltimore Ravens, 5 Things To Know With RG3, Junior Galette Injury Before Matchup

Aug 27, 2015 03:56 PM EDT

5 things to watch

1. Can RGIII play productively with the starters?

RGIII needs to take this opportunity while he still has a shot at being the starting quarterback. If Griffin is injured again or throws a number of interceptions he should be pulled for Cousins. It is weird to think that only a couple of years ago Griffin was being mentioned with Andrew Luck but at this point it is safe to say that Brock Osweiler is having a better preseason.

2. Can the Ravens find a reliable wide receiver?

The Ravens have acquired one of the best offensive coordinators at throwing the ball in Marc Trestman. The question is will Trestman have anyone wide receivers to use? 1st round pick Breshad Perriman has been a gigantic bust so far and his status is in doubt for week 1 of the regular season. Steve Smith is in his final year before retirement and will likely have a good season but not even close to a wide receiver who will lead the Ravens to the playoffs. This leaves guys like Kamar Aiken and Michael Campanaro to fill the void. Can they produce like top tier wide receivers or are they just a flash in the pan?

3. How will the Redskins starting defense look without Junior Galette?

The Redskins suffered a huge loss this week when their new defensive end, and statistically one of the best in the league, Junior Galette, tore his Achilles forcing him to have season ending surgery. How will the Redskins defensive ends respond?

4. How will the Raven's rushing game look with Marc Trestman as the offensive coordinator?

Marc Trestman loves to throw the ball so it will be likely this running game is set to change. Justin Forsett will likely get a few less carries and a few more catches this season. Matt Forte had an incredible season through the air in 2014, is it destined to happen for Forsett as well.

5. Who will be the Redskins starting quarterback for week 1?

If RGIII gets injured again that could be it for his time as a starter for the Washington Redskins. This is seriously beginning to look like Griffin's last stand in Washington as it is. The fans are tired of him especially when Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy are doing a better job. Griffin could find himself in a brand new uniform with the right set of circumstances and the Redskins could find themselves with a brand new quarterback.
