Cowboys finally see some explosiveness from Darren McFadden
The Dallas Cowboys have been searching for continuity in their running game since DeMarco Murray has left. The Cowboys have seen some promising runs but have suffered some frustrating injuries notably from Darren McFadden.
McFadden missed a good portion of training camp with a hamstring injury however whenever he was on the field he showed tremendous speed and awareness. McFadden showed that in the Cowboy's third preseason game, running through holes like a rookie and moving the chains.
McFadden finished with four carries for 37 yards, which included a 15 yard scamper that wowed the fans. Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones stated,
"I think that what you saw was vintage McFadden. You saw that acceleration. You saw his abilities. He's a seasoned veteran running back who can take what's given to him, and yeah, I'd like to say that's what you'd expect from him, but he's very capable of using the offense that we've got, the weapons we've got, the blockers we've got and getting the most advantage out of it."
The Cowboys have utilized Joseph Randle the most this preseason, grooming him as their lead back. Randle finished with 15 yards on six carries however the Cowboys are obviously keeping a close eye on their starting running back's snap count.
McFadden's performance was pleasing in the sense that he might add some value to a unit that has yet to see one person run away with the starting job. If Saturday night told us anything it was that the Cowboys can run with any running back of their choosing when their offensive line comes to play.
