After a frustrating loss to the Atlanta Hawks, the Dallas Mavericks will look for a bounce back victory as they host the visiting New Orleans Hornets to Dallas at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The Mavericks will be without center Chris Kaman because of a strained calf, coach Rick Carlisle announced Monday.
Kaman, 30, also missed Saturday's preseason game in Atlanta because of the calf. He's had a history of injury issues, missing 152 games in the previous five seasons.
Meanwhile, the Hornets will be without guard Eric Gordon who continues to recover from a knee injury. Gordon reported to training camp with a sore right knee that occurred during offseason workouts a few weeks before training camp was set to open. It's the same knee that Gordon had arthroscopic surgery on in February.
In the meantime the Hornets young roster has seen much production out of their No. 1 draft pick Anthony Davis.
Davis is developing into a decent scoring threat in the post and perimeter that can lead to eventual matchup problems for opposing defenses.
Davis has developed a high arching jump shot that makes it difficult to contests. So far this preseason he's made 50 percent of his shots, leads the team in scoring 15.3 points per game, and leads the team in rebounds grabbing 8.3 per game.
