NFL Season Preview 2015 Dallas Cowboys: How Improved Will Pass Rush Be With Randy Gregory, Greg Hardy, Jeremy Mincey?

Sep 01, 2015 01:58 PM EDT

The Dallas Cowboys have improved their pass rush to the point where it might be one of the best aspects of the team.

In 2014 the Cowboys generated absolutely no pressure. Jeremy Mincey had the highest sack total at 6, and a little extra pressure could have gone a long way at getting them a championship. Now the Cowboys have added multiple pass rushers including top rookie Randy Gregory from Nebraska and Greg Hardy from the Panthers.

It is not just the additions though it is also that this is the second year a lot of these defenders have been in this defense. Consistency fluidity are all things we are seeing from the Cowboys defense so far this preseason.

In the middle of the season the Cowboys defensive line should consist of Greg Hardy manning the middle with Tyrone Crawford and Demarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory bringing pressure off the edge, now that is a dangerous defensive line.

Not to mention the depth guys like Mincey, Davon Coleman, Ken Bishop, and Ben Gardner who will be contributing heavily in this defense scheme. The Cowboys are seemingly turning a corner on defense while their offense holds several questions, who will their punt returner be? Who will their lead running back be? But there are no questions involving pressure because the Cowboys are constantly generating it so far this preseason.

The Cowboys have already recorded 9 sacks in only 3 games. Before this season the Cowboys may be remembered for running the ball however after, the Cowboys should be known for sacking the quarterback.
