In most fantasy formats the tight end could be the most frustrated position to fill. These are the top 5 players who should make an impact from a fantasy perspective in 2015.
Jimmy Graham (Seattle Seahawks): Jimmy Graham will have a vastly different role than the one he had in New Orleans. Graham will likely attempt to replicate his production from New Orleans but that already looks like it will not be the case. Graham will spend a large portion of his time run blocking and will get some red zone looks but for the most part will be clearing the way for Marshawn Lynch.
Rob Gronkowski (New England Patriots): Gronkowski is the best tight end for fantasy football hands down. He scores way more points than any other tight end and typically has a very stable offense. This will not be the case if Tom Brady is suspended. If the suspension is upheld Gronk will be catching balls from Jimmy Garoppolo which he has very limited chemistry with. Gronk will still be one of the top targets for tight ends this season.
Greg Olsen (Carolina Panthers): Greg Olsen finished fourth last season in fantasy points which is pretty surprising since, Julius Thomas, Martellus Bennett, and Travis Kelce were all behind him. Olsen has become a consistent target for Cam Newton and will continue to play a bigger role this season. With Kelvin Benjamin out the only sure target Newton has is Olsen. He should make a play to be the highest scoring tight end in fantasy football.
Julius Thomas (Jacksonville Jaguars): Julius Thomas was one of the best tight ends of 2014, catching passes from Peyton Manning and dominating in the red zone. Now he finds himself on the Jaguars with a bigger contract surrounded by fantasy football mediocrity. Thomas will have a shot to return to fantasy glory if Blake Bortles can progress as a starting quarterback. Thomas will have a short amount of time to do this because he will miss the first 4 games recovering from surgery to his hand.
Jason Witten (Dallas Cowboys): Jason Witten is one of the best fantasy tight ends period because of his value. Last season was seen as his decline as he only reached 100 fantasy points however he will get a lot more targets now that Demarco Murray is gone. Witten's stock should rise as the season moves along.
