The Miami Dolphins are shopping a trade for Will Davis ahead of final roster cut downs and the team could keep the cornerback if a deal is not done and this comes as rookie wide receiver DeVante Parker is hoping to be ready to return for Week 1 of the season after having foot surgery. The Dolphins offense is deep and players like Jarvis Landry, Lamar Miller and Jordan Cameron are some of the best fantasy options for Ryan Tannehill.
Miami has high expectations for this season and the team is hoping that Parker can be ready to play in the opener after having foot surgery this summer. According to NFL.com, Parker has returned to practice on a limited basis and the team is bringing him back slowly heading into the start of the season. Parker is not playing in the final preseason game for the Dolphins and if he shows enough progress in the week leading up to the opener, he could get snaps.
According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins may have to keep an extra running back that they were going to cut, as rookie Jay Ajayi has a cracked rib. Ajayi said that he is "not overly concerned" about the injury, but it could end up keeping him out for the start of the season. Ajayi had 66 yards rushing with two receptions for 37 yards against the Bucs in the final preseason game.
Even if Parker is healthy for Week 1, he likely will not play significant snaps after missing training camp and the preseason. The Dolphins are fairly stacked at receiver with Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills and Greg Jennings on the roster along with Rishard Matthews and that should give Tannehill enough to work with no matter how much Parker does or doesn't play. Parker has big play ability with his speed and the Dolphins are hoping he can step in after Mike Wallace was traded.
The Dolphins are reportedly shopping cornerback Will Davis to teams and it comes as roster cut downs are on the horizon. Many teams do this around the fourth preseason game and it's similar to how the Eagles have been shopping Matt Barkley. According to the Miami Herald, Armando Salguero reports that the Dolphins are shopping Davis and the report says it's "unclear" if Davis will be let go if he is not traded.
While he could be cut eventually, Miami may just want to gauge interest in Davis to see what type of value they can get on the market. Davis was selected in the 2013 draft and he has dealt with injuries over the last two years. Davis tore his ACL in November and he played in only 10 games last season, making 17 total tackles. The Dolphins likely would only be able to get a late round pick for Davis if they can get a deal done.
The Dolphins defense should be much improved with Ndamukong Suh coming in and that gives Miami high expectations for the unit. Tannehill just had a career year and he has some new weapons to get used to in Jordan Cameron, Parker, Jennings and Stills. Lamar Miller had over 1000 yards last season and he has some depth with Jay Ajayi behind him.
