Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere are seen as Arsenal's future generals in central midfield - a major part of the English core that Arsene Wenger is trying to build at the Emirates.
Arsenal fans can see a bright future with the duo along with the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs, Emmanuel Frimpong, Carl Jenkinson and Theo Walcott, if he stays, eventually becoming the heartbeat of what would definitely be a formidable Arsenal lineup.
So to see one of your fellow teammate, roughly the same age, and most probably your future captain would be something that would bring a smile to your face. "He's been out for a long time and I've been through a similar sort of thing," said Ramsey, who suffered a broken leg a couple of years back. "I'm happy to see him back playing again. There's nothing worse than being out for that period of time.
"We haven't really had a chance to play together. He went out on loan, I got injured and then he got injured.
"He's a gifted player, one that any midfielder would like to play with -- and I'm no different. Hopefully that can be a possibility soon."
Wilshere stepped up his comeback from over a year out with a sparkling performance for the under-21s against Everton Monday, but is not expected to be named in the squad for the Champions League game against Schalke, as Wenger tries to ease his playmaker back into the first-team fold.
On Wednesday, the Gunners will be desperate to put things right after disappointment at Norwich at the weekend. "When you have an upset you want to get back out there as quickly as possible to put things right," Ramsey added.
"We know we weren't good enough on the day to win the (Norwich) game. We had been doing really well this season and in each game we felt like we were growing with confidence, so that was definitely an upset. Hopefully we can turn things around as quickly as possible.
"That is what we hope to do against Schalke, and it will put us in a really strong position in this group.
"We all look forward to these occasions, we're playing the best teams from around Europe and we're all up for it. We are trying to put our stamp on this competition and hopefully we can do that on Wednesday."
Arsenal lead Group B with six points, with the German side two points behind them, while Montpellier have one and Olympiakos are yet to register a single point.
