Lille vs Bayern Munich Results and Reaction: Heynckes Unhappy with 1-0 Win as Valencia Hammer BATE to Keep Group Interesting

Jupp Heynckes was far from happy after Bayern got their Champions League campaign back on track with a 1-0 victory over Lille.

Thomas Muller's penalty in the 20th minute, after Philipp Lahm was brought down inside the box by Lucas Digne, gave last year's runners-up all three points, but Heynckes was not satisfied with the performance, while highlighting the importance of the win following their shock defeat to BATE Borisov on Matchday Two.

"A 1-0 lead is always dangerous, because Lille were trying everything to score the equaliser," the Bayern manager said. "This is the type of game that you have to win. It was a tough task today. We didn't play that well, but we put up a great fight and, in the end, deserved to win.

"It was noticeable that we weren't as free flowing in our game today, and thus we have to be satisfied with winning the match, despite our mediocre performance. We weren't as effective while switching from defence to attack today, at least not the way we have done in recent weeks.

"In the end, it's important to win these games."

Lille manager Rudi Garcia was happy with his side's show, after the French side put in a better second half display in front of their home crowd and against their more formidable opponents.

"The players are not to blame -- they gave it their all," he said. "We played with intensity. Unfortunately we didn't have many chances, albeit we had more in the second than in the first half.

"We should have had more on target in order to trouble their defence and very good goalkeeper. We know they are a great team, but we could have been more threatening towards them.

"We're still alive. We have to win in Munich, but the European Cup is the stuff of achievements. While it is mathematically possible we will try to finish in the top two, but we know it will be hard."

Meanwhile, in the other game of Group F, BATE fell from the high of victory over Bayern with a 3-0 hammering by Valencia. Roberto Soldado scored a hat-trick to guide the Spanish side to all three points in Minsk. The win means, Bayern, BATE and Valencia are all on six points from three games, with Lille yet to get off the mark.
