Join us for Game 1 of the World Series. Can't catch the game on television or through the computer or smart phone? Well, we got you with a play-by-play with scoring updates of the live action between the San Francisco Giants versus the Detroit Tigers.
The dichotomy between the two teams could not be greater and ranges beyond one being from the American League and the other from the National League.
Just the pitching matchups explain how different both teams are. On the mound for the Giants will be a crafty left hander relying on his breaking pitches to draw opponents off balance. On the mound for the Tigers will be a hard-throwing right hander with four great pitches that will blow you out with his fastball.
The Giants fought to get into the World Series, coming back from a 1-3 deficit in the NLCS. The Tigers swept the New York Yankees and have been relaxing since last Thursday.
Many see this as a negative for the Tigers, especially since history tells us that the Tigers already messed up the last time they were in the World Series on an extended peroid of rest. They lost the 2006 World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals.
If the Tigers don't commit any errors the way the Cardinals did in the NLCS and their pitching performs the way it did against the Yankees and Oakland Athletics, then the Tigers should be just fine.
