The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys are set for the opening game of NFL Sunday night football and the matchup from AT&T Stadium starts at 8:30 pm ET on NBC. The game is streaming live from the NBC Sports Live Extra website and has Eli Manning, Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and Odell Beckham Jr in action.
The Giants are playing this game without Victor Cruz while he recovers from an injured calf, but Beckham is expected to be a full go for New York. Eli Manning just inked a contract extension and he is looking to bring the Giants back to the playoffs after a four year absence. Manning had a great season in 2014 in the first year of Ben McAdoo's offense and he is looking for more in year two.
The Cowboys come into the season with championship aspirations and they are looking to put their tough loss against the Green Bay Packers behind them. The defense looks strong and the offensive line is expected to be one of the best in the league again. Tony Romo isn't getting any younger and this next stretch could be the best chance for the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl.
Bryant signed a long term deal in the offseason and he remains with the Cowboys after DeMarco Murray was allowed to walk in free agency. Murray is with the Eagles now and that leaves Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle along with the newly acquired Christine Michael as the main running back options. McFadden and Randle are expected to split carries and Michael is the wild card of the bunch after his trade from the Seahawks.
The Giants have pressure to at least finish with a winning record after going just 6-10 last season and if the walk doesn't bounce back, Tom Coughlin could be pushed out as head coach. No real Giants fan thinks that is the right move, but without some improvement the team may not have a choice but to finally move on.
The Eagles are expected to be a factor in things and the Cowboys are looked at as the favorites in the division. The Redskins have enough problems coming into the season and they are projected to finish last among the group. The Giants offense has the chance to be very productive this season and the biggest key to success could be how the defense performs. The Giants have lost numerous safeties and that position is looking like the thinnest of the unit.
