NY Jets Rumors: Chris Ivory Fantasy Starter as Jeremy Kerley Limited Behind Chris Owusu, Devin Smith? Ryan Fitzpatrick Favors Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker

The New York Jets are going with the less-is-more approach in their offense with Ryan Fitzpatrick heading up the attack. Fitzpatrick is not the most dynamic quarterback in the league, but on Sunday the veteran did what was needed to get the win over the Cleveland Browns and New York is hoping that continues. While Brandon Marshall was the clear star of the show, fans are scratching their heads wondering what happened to Jeremy Kerley.

The Jets tried to revamp their offensive attack in order to get more big plays in 2015. Trading for Marshall was part of that plan while Kerley was expected to play a big role as well. However, in Week 1, Kerley was on the field for exactly three plays. The wide receiver made no impact whatsoever in the game which might be a telling as to what the future holds for him.

Kerley was listed as the No.43 receiver for the team, but instead Chris Owusu outshined him with 55 yards off four catches. Kerley was nowhere to be seen. Head coach Todd Bowles offered up nothing in terms of Kerley's performance simply saying the receiver was there but Owusu was looking like the better option. Kerley has not been thrilled with his disappearing role on the team that has been taking place since training camp.

"I guess I see what it is now. It's just part of the business," Kerley said, via the Post. "Positions get took. Guys move around. This is a new coaching staff. I signed my contract under a whole different organization. Everything is different now. The coaches have got to get a chance to know me, hopefully get a chance to see what I bring to the table."

It does not help that Devin Smith is set to return after suffering a broken rib in training camp. That could hurt Kerley's role even more as the wide receiver is at risk of getting released by the end of the season if not before. Another hit to Kerley is the emergence of Chris Ivory who is looking like the workhorse running back for the Jets, something they have lacked in recent years.

Ivory moved into the starting spot for the Jets in Week 1 while Zac Stacy was inactive and Stevan Ridley continues to heal from an injury. Ivory put up 91 yards and two touchdowns which propelled the Jets win. Fantasy owners who took the risk on Ivory are likely very happy as his numbers are expected to continue throughout the season.

"I definitely think there is more opportunity," Ivory said, via the New York Post. "What they want to do right now is run first, and come to the pass and then get play-action. I'm just confident now. You're not confident in yourself, who else will be? That's the only way to prosper or progress in this game."
