The concern continues to grow around Peyton Manning. The quarterback did not end 2014 on a high note. He then took a pay cut in the summer and failed to toss a touchdown pass in his first game of the 2015 season. Of course NFL analysts immediately jumped on the idea that Manning was simply no longer the quarterback he once was and having his name pop up on the Week 2 injury report is not helping the talk. Manning is denying all of it.
Manning has no time for questions about his health or playing ability. As the quarterback gets used to a new coaching staff and playbook, he is simply saying the offense is a work in progress and the team will improve. However a back injury reported at the start of the week is making the talk grow louder as Manning denies any issues.
"You know my thoughts on the injury report," Manning said, via the Denver Post"I think the media should do an injury report as well. I'd like to create it myself. Think about it. I'm going to put down what I think your injuries are."
CJ Anderson and Demaryius Thomas also appeared on the injury report which is a big concern to the Broncos. The offense simply looked out of sync in Week 1 despite getting the win over Baltimore Ravens. Head coach Gary Kubiak stressed that the offense wants to remain as balanced as possible which is why there were so many more run plays than fans might have been used to seeing when Adam Gase ran things. However, with Anderson and Ronnie Hillman not looking the best, the offense stalled more than started. The Broncos preached versatility in the preseason with players like Virgil Green and Emmanuel Sanders, but none of it was seen in Week 1.
"We would like to be balanced," Kubiak said, via ESPN.com. "That's one thing that we'd like to be and hopefully we can get back there this week, but to be balanced you have to feel like you're making some headway running the ball and we weren't until the end of the game."
The Broncos are preparing to play on a short week which is not good when Manning shows up on the injury report. The team will face off against the Kansas City Chiefs on the road and need everyone healthy. According to the Denver Post, both Anderson and Thomas are not expected to miss any time despite landing on the injury list which is good news for fantasy owners.
