The Miami Dolphins are coming into Week 2 hoping that DeVante Parker can play more snaps as he makes his way back from foot surgery. The Dolphins won over the Redskins, but the offense was not very productive and players like Jarvis Landry, Jordan Cameron and Lamar Miller could be the best fantasy football options for Ryan Tannehill against the Jaguars.
Jacksonville is not close to a playoff team right now, but head coach Joe Philbin said in his press conference that Miami will not overlook the Jaguars. The Dolphins won over the Redskins in a fairly close game and the defense played well in the debut game for Ndamukong Suh with the team. Philbin said both sides of the ball need improvement and that the team is ready to get the offense clicking against the Jaguars.
The Dolphins plan all offseason for Parker was to have him ready to play Week 1 and while that did happen, Parker only ended up playing one snap in the game against Washington. Parker was drafted in the first round by the Dolphins and he is expected to take over as the deep threat with Mike Wallace gone in a trade to the Vikings. Parker was not targeted in the game against the Redskins and Philbin said in his press conference that Parker needs time to get his "rhythm" after missing time in training camp and the preseason.
According to the Miami Herald, Parker was able to participate in practice and Philbin said that the wide receiver was as "good as he's looked" since being drafted. Parker should get more work for the Dolphins against the Jaguars. Jarvis Landry started off his season strong with a punt return touchdown and eight catches for 53 yards in the receiving game. Landry is the best fantasy starter for Ryan Tannehill and players like Jordan Cameron and Lamar Miller are also good starter picks for this week.
The team also saw Branden Albert return in Week 1 after having knee surgery last year and he was able to make it through the game against the Redskins without any major issues. The Dolphins offensive line has been a mess for a couple years and that has hurt Tannehill a bit, as he has been sacked more than any other quarterback over that span. The Dolphins added Albert last year to help with that, but he missed part of the season after tearing his ACL and MCL, but now he is back and ready to play.
The Dolphins have Dion Sims dealing with a concussion and that could put Jake Stoneburner in the mix as the backup for Cameron on Sunday. Stoneburner last played with the Green Bay Packers in an NFL game and he has put in time with the Dolphins from the practice squad. Albert being back has been big for the Dolphins, as his backup Jason Fox has been dealing with a concussion. MiamiDolphins.com reports that Fox could see action in Week 2.
