The Green Bay Packers will be without Bryan Bulaga on Sunday night football against the Seattle Seahawks, as reports have the tackle dealing with an MCL sprain in his knee. The Packers won in Week 1 and now the team has the Seahawks for a tough game and players like James Jones, Randall Cobb and Eddie Lacy are some of the best fantasy options for Aaron Rodgers.
According to Pro Football Talk, Mike McCarthy said in his press conference this week that Bulaga is dealing with a sprained MCL and will not be able to play against the Seahawks. McCarthy said that Bulaga tweaked his knee in practice and that the team will "deal with it" when they come into the game on Sunday night. PFT reports that Don Barclay likely will take over, as he has made 18 starts combined over 2012-13 and has experience at tackle.
Bulaga is one of the best offensive linemen in the league and McCarthy said that Bulaga will be "evaluated" leading into next week. The Packers have the advantage of playing on Monday night football after the game against the Seahawks and that could give Bulaga more time to recover. Bulaga dealt with an ankle injury earlier in the summer and he previously hurt the same knee in 2013 with a serious injury. ESPN.com reports that Bulaga could return in Week 4 over Week 3 if the Packers want to be cautious about his knee.
Rodgers started off the season with a strong game against the Bears and he put up three touchdowns in the game, including two to James Jones. Jones signed ahead of the start of the season after being released by the Giants, as the Packers needed to replace Jordy Nelson following his injury. Nelson tore his ACL in the preseason and is out for the year and adding Jones helps add some depth. Rodgers and Jones have good chemistry from when Jones was previously with the Packers and the two picked up on that quickly on Sunday.
Jones had four catches in the game, but two were for touchdowns and he is considered a solid fantasy option moving forward. Jones had 14 touchdowns in 2012 playing with Rodgers and he was still fairly productive last season for the Raiders, making 73 catches and scoring six TDs. Jones gives the team some depth and allows Ty Montgomery and Jeff Janis to develop more before getting thrust into bigger roles.
Randall Cobb has been dealing with a shoulder issue since the preseason, but according to ESPN.com he is in no danger of missing the game on Sunday. Rob Demovsky reported that Cobb was limited in practice on Thursday, but that he will suit up on Sunday night. Cobb comes in after making five catches for 38 yards and a TD in the game. Davante Adams is also a solid option for fantasy owners and he could have a solid performance on Sunday night.
