The Miami Heat and the New Orleans Hornets both close out their preseason schedule in a matchup against each other Friday at 8:00 p.m. ET.
In this contest fans may see former No. 1 overall draft pick and reigning NBA MVP LeBron James gets guarded by current No. 1 draft pick Anthony Davis.
The former Kentucky Wildcat, Davis has great respect for James and has gotten his opportunity to play alongside James during the 2012 London Olympic Games over the summer.
During that time, with all the respect and admiration Davis has for James, he's learned one clear thing that many current NBA players already know.
"Really nobody can guard him," Davis said in anticipation of perhaps getting the opportunity Friday night. "It's going to be tough. When he's going, he's going. I have to get better on defense, but there might be a point in the game where I'll have to guard LeBron. I'll just have to step up and do it."
Davis who is a lengthy-slim 6'10" and 220 pounds will definitely have his work cut out for him if he does have to guard the 6'8" 250 pound frame of James, but yet still welcomes the challenge.
Davis' strategy will be to use size more than strength when guarding James.
"My length, probably," Davis said, answering how he might be able to bother James. "But it's LeBron. He's the best player in the game. It'll be tough. It would like somebody trying to guard Mike (Michael Jordan). It's going to make me better, to become a better defender.
"Probably your best option is just to annoy him. He's too strong. No one is going to overpower him you've just got to try to bother him. But he's still going to get what he wants. I've got to use my length."
The Heat are 4-3 this preseason and will be without Joel Anthony (hamstring) and Jarvis Varnado (hamstring). The Hornets are 3-4 and will miss guards Austin Rivers (ankle) and Eric Gordon (knee), and forward Jason Smith (shoulder).
