Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Doug Martin (Running Back): Martin was slated to have the best matchup of week 2 for running backs however this Tampa offensive line failed to open up a lot of holes. Martin finished the day with 21 carries, 78 yards, and 2 catches for 20 yards. The Buccaneers controlled the game with Martin late in the 3rd quarter however this offensive line failed to protect him from defensive penetration. If Martin had the Dallas offensive line to run behind, he would have had over 200 yards.
Vincent Jackson (Wide Receiver): VJax went off for 3 catches for 51 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's game. Jackson was relegated to WR3 or 4 duties as his targets seemed to diminish last week however he quickly took advantage of the Saints awful secondary and put up some unexpected fantasy points.
Mike Evans (Wide Receiver): Evans was held without a catch for week 2. As a player being drafted in the 2nd and 3rd round this is incredibly disappointing for fantasy owners. Evans was the main target a year ago however Winston entering this offense has changed its dynamics completely.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins (Wide Receiver): ASJ laid a huge egg on fantasy owners this week only catching 2 of his targets for 29 yards. Winston overthrew him in the red zone that would have been a clear touchdown however these are the risks you face when you have a rookie quarterback.
New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees (Quarterback): Brees injured his shoulder early on in the game which made it tremendously difficult for him to be accurate. Brees finished the day completing 24 of 38 passes for 255 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Brees struggled to connect with his wide receivers and barely had a clean pocket. Regardless of the reason it is clearly time to hit the panic button in New Orleans.
Brandin Cooks (Wide Receiver): Cooks like Evans is a second year wide receiver who promised big things for fantasy owners in 2015 however now that outlook, looks less and less likely. Cooks was quiet all game until the final 2 drives by the Saints offense. He finished the game with 5 catches for 62 yards which begs the question how is he the number 1 wide receiver again? Cooks has been a supreme disappointment but with some luck the Saints could turn it around.
Mark Ingram (Running Back): Mark Ingram carried the load on the ground with 16 carries. He gained 53 yards and had a touchdown for this struggling Saints offense. With Brees not opening up passing lanes, the rushing game suffered, also the Saints were behind for most of the game.
Waiver Wire Targets:
Willie Snead (NO) (Wide Receiver): Snead was one of the Saints that was targeted infinitely more than Brandin Cooks and put up a substantial fantasy stat line. Snead finished the day with 4 catches for 44 yards and a touchdown. If he keeps getting the targets then he is worth an add in deeper leagues.
Louis Murphy (TB) (Wide Receiver): Murphy was the deep wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buc's. He only had 3 catches but he racked up 82 yards and clearly made himself the Buc's 3rd wide receiver with this performance.
