The Buffalo Bills had LeSean McCoy healthy last week after dealing with a hamstring issue and he remains the starter for Tyrod Taylor, while Karlos Williams is a great fantasy football sleeper for Week 3. The Bills lost to the Patriots on Sunday, but players like McCoy, Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods and Charles Clay could have a solid matchup for fantasy owners with the Dolphins this weekend.
The Bills came into the season with high expectations after hiring Rex Ryan and after winning against the Colts in Week 1, fans and the media also joined in. The Bills were humbled a bit by the Patriots, but the team is 1-1 and firmly in the mix heading into Week 3 of the season. Taylor was named the starter despite not having much experience and he has looked solid at times over the first two games and Ryan likes the athleticism he brings to the table.
The Bills rushing attack is going to be key for any success this season and while the team lost on Sunday, the play of McCoy has to give the team some optimism. McCoy only had 41 yards in the Week 1 win while dealing with a sore hamstring, but he was healthy and ready to go in Week 2, putting up over 100 totals yards in the game against the Patriots. McCoy had 89 yards on 15 carries and he also added three catches for 27 yards and that type of production is what the Bills will be looking for moving forward.
Karlos Williams was drafted to be the backup for McCoy and the Bills have high expectations for him in his rookie season. Williams is the number two back on the depth chart and he has already made an impact, scoring two touchdowns in two games for the Bills. Williams has not had many carries with just 12 in two games, but he is averaging over six yards per carry and the Bills like the speed he has out of the position. Williams is a solid fantasy sleeper with his redzone skills and he comes in after putting up 21 yards against the Patriots with a rushing touchdown.
McCoy owners should look at Williams as a solid handcuff, as the team has him listed second on the depth chart and hamstring injuries have a way of lingering for running backs. Taylor was named the starter by Ryan over Matt Cassel and EJ Manuel after the way he played in the preseason and so far the team has been very pleased with how he has played. Taylor was overmatched at times against the Pats, throwing three interceptions, but he also had three touchdowns and completed 23-for-30 passes for 242 yards.
Taylor will have some growing pains this season, but Ryan likes how he can run the ball and so far Taylor has 14 rushed for 84 yards and a TD this season. Taylor can extend plays and defenses have to be aware of his running skills and that can help open up the offense. Woods and Watkins are the best fantasy options for Taylor in Week 3.
