Terrelle Pryor, Montee Ball, Ray Rice, Hakeem Nicks, Wes Welker and Trent Richardson are among the NFL free agents available for teams heading into Week 4 and those players could get some attention with teams dealing with injuries. The Dallas Cowboys, Giants, NY Jets, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks could be interested in some of those players after some previously worked out for those teams.
UPDATE: The Giants are working out Nicks, Welker and Chris Cooley. CHECK here for more. Update: The Patriots are working out Ball, according to Pro Football Talk.
Pryor has been getting some attention on the market since he was released by the Browns and the Jets are the latest team to bring him in for a workout. The Atlanta Falcons showed interest in Montee Ball early after he was released from the Broncos and they are dealing with an injury to running back Tevin Coleman. The Bears have been hit on offense with Alshon Jeffery and Jay Cutler and they could look at Hakeem Nicks or Preston Parker to help tide things over until Jeffery can get fully healthy. Pryor is working out as a WR for the Seahawks, according to Pro Football Talk.
The Raiders have Latavius Murray as their lead back following the release of Trent Richardson and the team could look at adding some depth at running back moving forward. The Browns brought in Robert Turbin, but he is still coming back from an injury and Cleveland may look at adding another running back depending on how he progresses. The team has Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson and earlier in the summer they were connected to Ray Rice, but that deal did not end up happening.
Pryor has had a number of workouts over the past few weeks and he could end up with a team soon. According to Pro Football Talk, Pryor worked out with the Jets last week and that came after he previously had a try out with the New England Patriots. The Seattle Seahawks are also bringing him in. Pryor reportedly put on a good show for the Jets, as Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported that Pryor clocked in at the low 4's for his 40-yard dash. The Jets may want some depth with Eric Decker dealing with a PCL injury and Devin Smith coming back from a rib issue.
The Cowboys appeared to solve their issues at receiver with Dez Bryant out by trading for Brice Butler, but he has not made an impact yet. With Terrance Williams going catch-less this past week, the team could consider signing another player to help hold the tide until Bryant returns. According to ESPN Dallas, the Cowboys worked out Hakeem Nicks, Clyde Gates, Nick Toon and Austin Pettis last week following the injury to Bryant. The team has Williams, Cole Beasley and Devin Street as the main WR options with Bryant out for at least another month or more.
The Browns also could be in the market for a receiver (obviously not Pryor after cutting him) as the team wants some more depth with Travis Benjamin, Dwayne Bowe and Brian Hartline. Bowe has been up and down to start the season and the team could look at Nicks as s depth option. According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the team held a workout for Jerry Rice Jr. and he is another target that could come in.
