The Green Bay Packers have all the momentum right now in the NFL, but it is coming at a price as injuries begin to pile up for the team. Currently playing on a short week, the Packers have several players preparing to be out against their Sunday matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. With Jordy Nelson out for the season, the team was forced to put Andrew Quarless on injured reserve and now Davante Adams could be out as well.
Adams has been dealing with an ankle injury for two weeks now. The wide receiver pegged as Nelson's replacement took the field on Monday night, but quickly aggravated the injury and was pulled. The wide receiver does not appear to be improving as ESPN's Rob Demovsky is reporting that Adams has just a "slight chance" of seeing the field against San Francisco. The receiver has not practiced all week. Head coach Mike McCarthy noted that he was not confidence Adams plays which puts pressure on the remaining healthy receivers.
With Adams out, Ty Montgomery becomes a favorite for fantasy football. The receiver's stock is on the rise after he recorded his first touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs. The rookie is quickly earning Aaron Rodgers trust as Week 4 could be a breakout game for the young star.
"Ty came in and made some plays, so I was really happy for him," Aaron Rodgers said, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky . "I told him, 'That's how you earn the trust of the quarterback, when you go out there in situations like that and take care of that football and make some good reaction plays."
Richard Rodgers is also on the rise for the team. The tight end earned the starting job over Quarless and with injuries, he is going to be relied upon heavily. James Jones and Randall Cobb are presumed to be the starters for the team in Week 4, but fantasy owners can expect both Rdogers and Montgomery to see a lot of field time.
One player feeling healthier is Eddie Lacy who was dealing with ankle issues as well. The running back played a limited amount of time in Week 3 while James Starks worked in. That will not be the plan on Sunday as Lacy stressed he feels healthy and is ready to go full-speed against the 49ers.
"It's better than that because it's not going to be a lingering thing," Lacy said, via ESPN.com. "It's going away. My rookie year, it really didn't go away."
McCarthy noted that if needed, the Packers would continue with the Lacy, Starks rotation. However, the running back says he is not looking to be limited anymore which is good news for Rodgers and company.
