Chiefs vs. Chargers Predictions: Thursday Night Football Matchup Favors San Diego

Nov 01, 2012 03:30 PM EDT

The San Diego Chargers host the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9's Monday Night Football matchup at 8:30 p.m. ET.

For the Chargers, they will try to get back to their winning ways. Following their upsetting loss to the Denver Broncos, they lost to the Cleveland Browns 7-6 in Week 8.

Philip Rivers' performance has been disappointing as of late.

Coming into this game Rivers is 24th in yards passing, 12th with 10 touchdown passes and has been sacked the 7th most times with 19.

However, the Chiefs have not been a dynamic team all season long. The Chargers have a better record even though they are under .500 at 3-4, but the Chiefs have only won a single game in the entire season.

The game they won came against the New Orleans Saints and it was an overtime shootout guided by their running game, but the Chargers come into this game with the 2nd toughest running defense in the league allowing just under 80 yards on the ground per game.

No offense to Jamaal Charles who is putting up amazing numbers as he is seventh in the NFL with 595 yards rushing, The Chiefs will have to depend on their inferior quarterback, Matt Cassel to get them so pass completions through the air if they want to survive this one.

Score Predictions: Look for Philip Rivers to get his team back on the winning column and to a .500 record as he will guide them to victory.

I expect this to finish 24-16 in favor of the Chargers.
