The Dallas Cowboys need a spark. The team is at risk of falling behind in the division if they cannot start to rack up some wins at the arm of Brandon Weeden who has been hot and cold since taking over for the injured Tony Romo. With injuries running wild on the roster, the Cowboys are having a hard time overcoming them and need something to boost the offense. That will not be Dez Bryant this week, but the receiver is expected to be back sooner rather than later.

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, Bryant is on the fast road to recovery. The receiver has been doing light running on the treadmill and while he has yet to step onto the practice field, hope is high that he can be back by the Oct. 25 game against the New York Giants. Bryant underwent surgery at the start of September to repair a broken foot and the coaching staff is confident that he can make a much faster recovery than expected.

"Getting in condition without putting too much stress and strain on his foot, so he has not been out running routes or anything like that up to this point," coach Jason Garrett said, via ESPN.com. "There are different ways to run where you can kind of get yourself in as good a shape as possible leading up to it, so he's been involved in that."

The fast return of Bryant has ended any and all trade speculation for the Cowboys. Dallas has been linked to a number of deals for wide receivers since the leader went down. According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, teams were showing interest in Roddy White after his choice words regarding his role in the Atlanta offense. White has since back tracked on his comments and is not expected to be moved from the franchise.

Cordarrelle Patterson has also been tossed around as an option for the Cowboys. According to Benjamin Allbright of FOX Sports, more than one team has shown trade interest in the former first-round pick for the Minnesota Vikings. Naturally, the Cowboys were the first name mentioned. Instead, Dallas will continue with Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley leading the charge as Dallas faces New England before having a bye week.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys could add a body to the running back rotation, but that will not happen until the bye week if anything. The team has lost their best offensive producer in Lance Dunbar, but they are getting Christine Michael into the rotation. With Joseph Randle expected to start and Darren McFadden getting more carries, the Cowboys will see how that trio works out before making any other adjustments.
