The Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to avoid a 0-3 start to their 2012-13 NBA season with a win Friday against their locker room rivals the Clippers at 10:30 p.m. ET.
The Lakers season opener against the Dallas Mavericks was frustrating for the new look Lakers who flaunted a star-studded starting lineup that included Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Metta World Peace, Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard that lost to a Mavericks team without All-Star Dirk Nowitzki.
The follow-up 116-106 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers only worsened matters as their point guard Steve Nash hurt his left shin.
Nash suffered the injury when he banged legs with Damian Lillard of the Blazers late in the second quarter. Nash limped off and walked to the locker room under his own power, but was ruled well enough to start the third quarter.
Just 76 seconds into the third quarter, Nash came out of the game again for good, as his left shin didn't hold up.
Nash's absence would mean that Steve Blake would get the start point guard, with third-string backup Chris Duhon figuring to get more playing time as a reserve.
The Clippers are coming into the match with a 1-0 start after defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 101-92 in Staples Center.
Blake Griffin and Chris Paul combined for 23 points but the bench picked up the slack with 49, led by Jamal Crawford's 29 points in his Clippers debut.
