The MLB playoffs continue with the Kansas City Royals taking on the Houston Astros in the ALDS and the teams are matching up for Game 2 on Friday with TV coverage from FS1 and streaming live coverage from the Fox Sports Go website. The Royals lost Game 1 and now the team is trying to salvage the second game at Kauffman Stadium against the American League wild card winners.
The Astros came into the ALDS after shutting out the Yankees in the wild card game and now they have a 1-0 series lead heading into Game 2 against the Royals. The Royals are considered the favorites in the AL this year as the number one team and they are not overlooking the Astros, as Kansas City made a run to the World Series last year as a wild card team.
The Astros have virtually no playoff experience and AJ Hinch has not let that be an issue with the team, as they have been playing like they have been there before. The Astros are a power team and they won over the Yankees with home runs and now they have the chance to do it again. In Game 1 George Springer and Colby Rasmus hit home runs and while Kendrys Morales hit two homers for the Royals, it was not enough to get the victory.
Dallas Keuchel is the AL Cy Young favorite and he pitched the wild card game and will be back for another start in this series. The Astros threw Colin McHugh against the Royals in Game 1 and he was very solid, going six innings and allowing just two runs. The Astros win gave the team home field for the moment against the Royals and it's big, as the Astros were a completely different team record wise due ring the regular season with home-road splits. The Astros started the game fast with two runs in the first inning and they won the game 5-2 against the Royals.
The Royals were the best team in the AL this season and they now have to find a way to win, or they will be down 0-2 against the Astros heading to Houston. The first game had a rain delay and Yordano Ventura was pulled when that happens, but McHugh stayed in and continued to pitch well for the Astros. Scott Kazmir is pitching the next game for the Astros, while Keuchel will end up at home in his next start and he went undefeated there this season with a 15-0 record.
