The New York Knicks and the Washington Wizards are playing on the NBA preseason schedule on Friday and the game starts at 7 pm ET at the Verizon Center and will be on TV from NBATV. This is the first real preseason game for the Knicks, as they opened up against Bauru Brazil first and got a win and now Carmelo Anthony and NY will take on John Wall and the Wiz.
The Wizards are coming into the season after making the playoffs again last season, while the Knicks had a tough year and finished near the bottom of the league. The Knicks feel they have made some solid improvements this offseason and they should be able to add to their 17 win total from last season. Anthony is coming back from knee surgery and he has looked good in camp and he is expected to start the season fully healed from surgery.
The Knicks arte slightly banged up in the preseason, as Arron Afflalo missed the first game with a hamstring injury, while Robin Lopez and Kevin Seraphin missed practice before the game in Thursday's session. Seraphin was with the Wizards last season and now he is looking for a more expanded role with the Knicks and he could get that if he is productive off the bench. Kelly Oubre was able to practice for the Wizards and should play on Friday, while Alan Anderson and Martell Webster are expected to miss the game, according to the Washington Post.
The Knicks preseason will continue with the Sixers next and that will be at MSG along with the next game against the Boston Celtics. The Knicks will finish the preseason with two road games against the Charlotte Hornets and the Boston Celtics before starting the regular season. The Wizards come in with the Knicks next and then they will play against Bauru at home before road games with the Sixers and Bucks. The team finishes off the preseason with road games against the Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors.
The Knicks saw Anthony go for 17 points and new acquisition Kyle O'Quinn had a solid game with 14 points and eight rebounds. Anthony only played 20 minutes, while rookie Kristaps Porzingis got the start in the game. Jerian Grant and Porzingis likely will play a lot in the preseason and both of those players should be key parts for the team this season. The Knicks and Wizards face off in DC and the game starts up at 7 pm ET.
