The Buffalo Bills could be without LeSean McCoy over the next month and the team is hoping that Karlos Williams can come back for Week 6 after missing the game in Week 5 with a concussion. Sammy Watkins could be on his way back as well and if Williams can't go again for Tyrod Taylor, Anthony Dixon and Dan Herron will get a boost on Sunday.
McCoy has been dealing with a hamstring injury since the preseason and now he likely will remain out until he is fully healed from the injury. According to CBS Sports, McCoy likely came back too early and that is why he re-aggravated the hamstring injury and sources report that the team is "preparing" to have McCoy out for the rest of this month. Williams sat out this week with a concussion and heading into Week 6, WKBW's Joe Buscaglia reports that Williams' status is "up in the air" for the game against the Bengals. UPDATE: Per Jason La Canfora from CBS: Tyrod Taylor could have sprained MCL and he could miss multiple games, including Week 6. UPDATE: Rex Ryan has NOT ruled out Taylor yet for Week 6, but he could end up on the sidelines if his knee injury does not get better by the end of the week.
The Bengals come into the game at 5-0 and getting a win would be huge for the Bills, but playing without McCoy and possibly Williams again could make it tough. Without Williams in the lineup the team has Dan Herron and Boobie Dixon as running back options and fantasy owners should look at Herron or Dixon as the main picks to replace Williams. The Bills overall have been dealing with injuries this season, including to Sammy Watkins and there is a chance Watkins could be back in the lineup for Week 6.
According to Mike Rodak at ESPN, Cierre Wood was placed on injured reserve after Week 5 and that leaves Herron and Dixon as the options this week if Williams can't come back.Williams and Watkins will be evaluated this week and fantasy owners should watch for practice reports to see if either player is participating and how much. Williams has had a solid start to the season with McCoy dealing with his hamstring issue, but fantasy owners now will have to wait and see if Williams will be in the lineup this week for the Bills.
Rodak reports that Wood suffered an ACL injury in the game against the Titans this week and it's "uncertain" whether Williams will be back for the Bengals game. ESPN reports that McCoy could be out for three to four weeks with his hamstring injury and there is chance that Herron and Dixon will be the only active backs for the game against the Bengals. The Bills did not do much on the ground this week with Dixon putting up 17 yards on seven carries and Herron had 28 yards on nine carries in the game for Buffalo.
Dixon also has a calf injury and he said that was "no excuse" and that he has to play better this week. Rodak reports that Rex Ryan said that he "feels good" about Watkins playing this week and that would be a big boost for the offense with all the RB injuries.
