Chelsea relinquished their lead at the top of the English Premier League table, after losing two points at Swansea City, while a disappointing Tottenham side were deservedly beaten 1-0 by Wigan.
In other games, Everton and Fulham played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage, while there were 1-0 victories for Norwich and Aston Villa over Stoke and Sunderland respectively.
At the Liberty Stadium, Chelsea seemed to be on their way to a hardly deserved three points thanks to a goal from Victor Moses, but Pablo Hernandez popped up three minutes from time to ensure a share of the spoils.
Swansea started the brighter of the sides, and probably should have gone into halftime with a lead, but their final ball was left a little wanting for pretty much the entire game.
The first chance fell to the home side, with Hernandez nearly creating the opener, but his pull back down the right just evaded Michu.
Then Fernando Torres, who had another poor game, was a little unlucky not to score -- his header cleared off the line by an alert Leon Britton. The two Spaniards Hernandez and Michu combined yet again, but Michu's strike off the former Valencia man's pass was high and wide.
Swansea were passing the ball brilliantly and keeping possession at will, but Chelsea rarely looked threatened, that final crucial ball eluding the home side time and again.
At the start of the second half, Eden Hazard almost scored cutting in from the right before striking a stinging low shot towards the bottom corner, which was well saved by Gerhahrd Tremmel. Moses had a half-chance off a Torres cross before Hazard's freekick was well kept out by the goalkeeper.
The goal came for Chelsea just past the hour mark. Gary Cahill rose to plant a header off a corner, which was impressively deflected with his head by Moses.
Michael Laudrup made a double substitution, bringing on Danny Graham and Nathan Dyer for Britton and Wayne Routledge, but despite again controlling possession, Swansea could not find that opening.
Just when it looked like Chelsea were going back to the top of the table, after Manchester United had deposed them with their 2-1 victory over Arsenal earlier on, Hernandez struck. The Spaniard played the ball into the feet of substitute Itay Shechter, who toe poked it back to Hernandez, with the midfielder then placing the ball perfectly past Petr Cech into the bottom corner.
Chelsea now lie a point behind United on 23 points from ten games, while Swansea have 12 from the same number of matches.
At White Hart Lane, Spurs were met by boos from the Tottenham faithful after playing a poor game against a Wigan side, which should have really won the game by a few more goals.
Ben Watson, however, was the only scorer in the game -- the midfielder scoring from close-range off a corner, after goalkeeper Brad Friedel could only parry the ball onto his path while under pressure from Arouna Kone.
Wigan had earlier created a couple of clearcut chances with Kone and Shaun Maloney denied by some good goalkeeping from Friedel.
At Craven Cottage, Fulham earned a point after Steve Sidwell struck in the final minute in an entertaining 2-2 draw. The home side had taken the lead through a Tim Howard own goal in the 7th minute, before a Marouane Fellaini double in the second half looked like giving Everton all three points. However, Sidwell poked home an equalizer from close range in the dying moments to earn a draw.
Results: Manchester United 2-1 Arsenal; Tottenham 0-1 Wigan; Swansea 1-1 Chelsea; Fulham 2-2 Everton; Norwich 1-0 Stoke; Sunderland 0-1 Aston Villa.
